Modern Counsel accepted nominations from March 1st through April 15th, 2022. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have a J.D. (or international equivalent), be in-house legal professionals, diverse and/or strong allies to underrepresented communities, and age 35 or younger at the time of publication on October 19th, 2022. Nominations were evaluated by a selection committee made up of legal leaders and peers from varying industries and companies.

The 35 Under 35 categories cover everything from Legal Services, Financial, Healthcare, Arts & Entertainment, Architecture, Engineering & Design, Manufacturing, and Technology.
