Growing up in a Southeast Asian immigrant community, Farhana Nowrin witnessed the impact that a good immigration lawyer can have. The Bangladesh native has worked to emulate this impact both in her role at Legalpad and more broadly as a mentor for young immigration lawyers who are eager to make a difference in their worlds. Nowrin also provides immigration services for a local legal clinic.
“The opportunities a person has should be based on their talent and merit not on their country of citizenship,” she says.
At Legalpad, Nowrin is one of two senior managing attorneys leading the immigration department of a diverse legal technology startup which provides immigration services to start-up founders interested in setting up their businesses in the US. The lawyer manages a team of twenty immigration specialists and oversees a pipeline of more than two hundred cases.
Her greatest career accomplishment so far has been her promotion to senior managing attorney after just a year with Legalpad. “It was such an amazing growth opportunity,” she explains. “It allowed me to build an entire department from scratch and watch it flourish.”
In her future, Nowrin hopes to continue providing cutting-edge immigration services to a diverse range of clients, “making it possible for people from all over the world to work without concerns about borders limiting their opportunities.”
