As lead counsel at Meta, Sheek Shah works with privacy and compliance attorneys to expand the privacy program for one of the most famous technology companies in the world. Shah is tasked with working cross-functionally with a variety of different teams and business lines throughout Meta.
To date, the attorney considers his current job to be his career highlight. “Having the opportunity to be on the small team that has been tasked with building out Meta’s privacy program has truly been quite the accomplishment for me,” the attorney says. “I have been helping clients on their journey towards establishing more mature privacy programs for years, but earning the responsibility to create the program for a company with the global footprint the size of Meta’s has been a humbling experience.”
Shah has also devoted significant time to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout his young career. He says he didn’t have to look far to identify the inequities that exist across the legal profession, and he’s proud to work alongside like-minded professionals to help mitigate those issues.
The lawyer spent the last four years as a member of the Chicago Committee, an organization that seeks to advance the interests of racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession by collaborating with law firms and corporate legal departments to provide professional development. Additionally, the nonprofit cultivates the community of minority lawyers through programming and leadership opportunities. He’s also done pro bono work with the Cabrini Green Legal Aid program.
Shah believes that he was meant to work in the field of law. “I get to work with some of the smartest people I have ever met and regularly work on cutting-edge issues that have a real-life impact on people around the world,” he says. “I feel blessed to call this my job.”
