As assistant general counsel at Dotdash Meredith, Julia Belagorudsky works with all levels of the business to mitigate risk and facilitate business cross-functionally across teams. The attorney is currently focused on labor and employment matters, collaborative efforts with the HR team, managing an extensive litigation portfolio, and content creation-related matters.
For Belagorudsky, the challenge of moving in-house came from a role that was very focused on one area to one that was generalist. “This was a fun challenge to overcome and required embracing the ability to work on a wide variety of matters and trusting my skill set and experience,” she explains.
Outside of her role, Belagorudsky is passionate about women’s rights, voting rights, and cancer research. She works with the Board of Elections in New York City to help ensure smooth election days. “A good experience at the polls is one way to incentivize voters to stay engaged, which is so important so that everyone feels that they have a voice and are being heard in the democratic process,” she explains.
Belagorudsky’s parents emigrated from the then USSR in their forties, and the lawyer says their struggle and success has been an incredible motivator in her own life.
“Every day that I am able to practice law in a city that I love, at a company that is so fun to work for, with colleagues that value having a lawyer on their team, is a day that I think my parents can look at and say, ‘It was all worth it.’”
