Reshma Raja currently serves as associate general counsel for talent and ESG at Commvault Systems. She also co-leads diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives for the company’s India-based Centre of Excellence. The role has provided Raja the chance to create an example for young Indians, especially women, who the lawyer wants to inspire to challenge themselves.
“If the work I do on a daily basis can inspire one budding lawyer, it is the greatest career accomplishment I can have,” Raja says.
Raja was born in India, but raised in the Middle East, creating what she calls a “blur” when it comes to her own personal identity. The challenge has created an inner strength that has allowed the her to understand, adapt, and flex easily in new environments.
As co-lead for Commvault’s DEI chapter, the Raja is constantly looking for new ways to support her colleagues in their personal and professional growth. “I look to capitalize on my role by actively seeking out, considering different perspectives, and fostering a sense of belonging at work,” the AGC explains.
Along with the people she inspires, Raja also supports freelance creatives, independent mental health providers, friends, and family members by providing legal advice and documentation when time permits. Given her commitment and expertise, her love for the profession is clear. “My father always told me to choose what I love, and I would never have to work a day in my life,” she reflects.
