In her dual role as senior director and senior corporate counsel at Oportun, Pamela Lujan’s responsibilities are as wide as they are deep, from supporting the company’s securities reporting function and capital markets practice to entity management and strategic projects.
Though young in her career, Lujan also acted as one of the lead lawyers for Oportun’s IPO. She describes the experience as one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of her journey.
Lujan also sat on the board of Latinas in Tech, a national nonprofit with a mission to elevate and increase the number of Latinas in the technology industry. She’s also part of the ambassador council for the California Minority Counsel Project. “I am involved in these efforts because I want to help pave the way for others to have a seat at the table and to improve the pipeline of Latinx professionals by being one more familiar face they can look up to,” the lawyer explains.
Through her career and work with nonprofits, Lujan recognizes how underrepresented Latinas are in the legal community. She emphasizes the importance of developing friends and mentors who can serve as career guides. “Being aware of the statistics drives me to continue the path to become a leader that others look up to and to mentor and sponsor others as I move up,” she says.
