Cochlear Americas Associate General Counsel Brett Mull supports the business in its collective mission to serve people impacted by hearing loss. It’s a big job, and the young lawyer recognizes the many people who helped her get to where she is today.
She had many mentors, including a favorite professor and advisor who both reminded her that success looks different for everyone. There was the fierce protector of interns who looked for potential over pedigree. And the justice who pushed Mull to think critically and practice with integrity. Later came a partner who encouraged her to take a chance rather than play it safe.
And now, Mull learns from a manager who leads by example and gives her the space to pursue her passions. “All of these mentors helped me get here, and I’m honored to have them in my corner,” she says.
She remains passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the workforce, particularly in the legal field. The young female lawyer notes the many times when she’s been the only woman at a meeting. She’s doing what she can to promote diversity within her organization and with its vendors and law firm partners, while also asking everyone sitting around her what they’re doing to be inclusive and increase diversity.
Mull participates in Cochlear Americas’ DEI and culture initiatives to create an authentic, respectful, and safe environment for all employees. Together, her fellow lawyers and business partners are working to help people overcome hearing loss.
